The 5 day event will focus on cutting edge knowledge, networking & performances in the areas of Music, Movies/TV, & Touring. Award-winning Houston, Texas based Americana/folk singer/songwriter Brian Kalinec's single, "Nowhere At All" from his new CD The Fence is a quality song that reflects on living life, and the things that matter - the simple things. Encouraging us not to take anything for granted, the song is beautifully composed and arranged, and features a nice small string section, and lyrical solo violin. There's steel string guitar with a beautiful finger style, and tasteful use of a shaker and percussion. The mix is not in your face, and the lead vocal weaves the lyrics with solid harmonies along with 2 other singers. The female's voice compliments the lead singer nicely. The drums keep it flowing tightly with a great arrangement. "Nowhere At All" is the kind of song that you'll want to listen to repeatedly, and will definitely pique your interest in hearing the full CD. This one is both musically and lyrically strong, and is solid throughout.

Deadline is fast approaching for the 17th Annual USA Songwriting Competition, a competition open to all songwriters worldwide. Winning songs of the 17th Annual USA Songwriting Competition will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program “Acoustic Café” as well as Sirius XM Satellite Radio. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving deserving bands, songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve.
Entrants stand to win a grand prize of over US$50,000 in cash and music gear from sponsors such as Sony, D'Addario Strings, Ableton, Audio-Technica, Presonus, IK Multimedia, and more, making this the largest prize package for any annual songwriting competition. Also from Los Angeles, Alexander Cardinale (see pictured, performing at USA Songwriting Competition's Songwriters Showcase during SXSW Week), 16th Annual USA Songwriting Competition's First Prize winner (Pop Category and Overall Second Prize Winner had his winning song "Traffic Lights" on the new "90210" TV program on CW network, aired on March 6, 2012. He was also on Music Connections Magazine's HOT 100 Unsigned Artists list of the year 2011. Alexander has worked as an actor in Films and TV . Most recently he shot a small, but featured principal role in David Fincher's hit movie The Social Network, written by Aaron Sorkin. Also soon to be released, he can be seen starring in Chad Peter's dark comedy, "Apocalypse, CA."
Molly Hunt won the 16th Annual USA Songwriting Competition First Prize, Country category and Overall Third Prize winner made passed the Hollywood round and Las Vegas round of the Top 60 of American Idol TV show. She is the youngest first prize winner of the USA Songwriting Competition at just 15 years old. Molly will be singing the National Anthem at the Official Detroit Red Wings game two months ago. USA Songwriting Competition winners came from all over the world: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Denmark, etc.
USA Songwriting Competition has a long history of having winners getting recording and publishing contracts, have their songs placed on the charts as well as having their songs placed on film and television. 2005 First Prize Winner Kate Voegele went on to get signed by Interscope records after her win. Kate shot to Pop stardom and her winning song "Only Fooling Myself" hit Top 40 on the Billboard Charts. Her second album hit top 10 on the Billboard 200 Charts. She also stars on the Hit TV show "One Tree Hill".
USA Songwriting Competition winner Christopher Tin won two Grammy Awards at the recent 53rd Annual Grammy Awards. This marks a grand historic win, making Christopher the only USA Songwriting Competition winner to win two Grammy Awards in the same year. Christopher Tin won an honorable mention award at the 15th Annual USA Songwriting Competition with the same song "Baba Yetu" that won two Grammy awards.Judges include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Capitol Records, Universal, BMG/SONY Music. Songs may be entered in 15 different categories including Pop, Rock/Alternative, R&B and Country. Entries are accepted from now through May 31, 2012.

Herrick, has joined a diverse roster of self-released and independent label talent culled from 6 continents named by Music Resource Group (MRG) as the winners of The 11th Annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs), the influential international awards program for independent bands and fans.
The winners in more than 70 Song, Album, Music Video and Design categories winnowed from thousands of submissions from around the globe, were determined by a panel of influential artists and music industry pros including Keith Richards, Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, Del McCoury, Ozzy Osbourne, Bettye LaVette, Jim Lauderdale, Joshua Redman, Shelby Lynne, Kevin Lyman (Warped Tour), Jason Olaine (Jazz At Lincoln Center), Alan Light (Live From The Artists Den), and Evan Schlansky (American Songwriter).
Herrick was named the winner of the Country Song Award for this 11th edition of The IMAs for "Cry Memphis" from NEW DANCE, the band's first full-length album, to be released June 4, 2012.

Terrence Hamilton's video and single "Love Is Real," produced and written by Troy Davis and Hamilton himself, is about a man whose business is cramping his personal life with the woman that he loves as he tries to find a balance between the two song, I was instantly reminded of Boys II Men, as Hamilton has a comparable voice, which he wields as an instrument, delivering a stellar performance. The video initially shows a man torn between his schedule and his lady, and is followed by Hamilton singing the track. Every note is precise and pitch perfect. A female singer who bears an amazing similarity to Mariah Carey's vocal style provides some accompaniment and does a great job at it, adding just enough flavor and accent to this love ballad. The arrangement is perfect, and it has a very ole school sound, which is the perfect backdrop for the song and message. Hamilton definitely has a future in the music industry and if he continues to write and record such moving songs as this one that contains a beautiful message, he'll go quite far. Fans of many genres will like this video and track, which could easily go mainstream, although it has an R&B base.
